1966 HONDA S600 2D COUPE
This Honda S600 Roadster is an impressive example of the high-revving lightweight sports car, which has benefitted from a full cosmetic and mechanical restoration.
It is powered by a 606cc water-cooled double overhead camshaft inline-four, fed by four Keihin carburettors, and coupled to a four-speed close-ratio manual transmission.
This example has benefitted from an exterior repaint, an interior retrim, and a rebuild of the engine, transmission, differential and chain case in its current 12-year ownership.
It is believed to be one of just 111 S600 Roadsters produced in 1966.
The odometer now shows 58,849 miles, however this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

Following a period of massive success in motorcycle racing, in 1964 Honda unveiled the diminutive S600 sports car, which tipped the scales at just 715kg in roadster form.
Inspired by British GT car design, the S600 used a particularly an advanced dual-overhead camshaft engine layout with four carburettors, creating a 9,500rpm redline.
This example is finished in a handsome red hue over a black vinyl-trimmed interior with a silver dashboard and a delicate three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel.
It rides on 13-inch steel wheels with chrome hub caps, shod in Pirelli P3000 tyres.
This S600 is understood to have had an exterior repaint, an interior retrim, and a rebuild of the engine, transmission, differential, and chain case.
The car has been fitted with an aftermarket stainless-steel exhaust.
It comes with a workshop manual, a Honda S600 OEM parts list, and a hard-top roof for enhanced year-round usability.
CONDITION

Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
Specific notes from the seller include: the car presents excellently inside and out.
The car’s last inspection of roadworthiness was conducted in 2013, during which the seller reports that no warnings or advisory items were noted.
SERVICE HISTORY

This S600’s latest service was carried out three months prior to listing by its current owner. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change and a tune of the carburettors.
Prior to this, the seller notes that the car benefitted from a full restoration, which included an engine, transmission, differential, and chain case rebuild.
SUMMARY

This Honda S600 Roadster is a charming and rare classic sports car, which is reported to present in excellent restored condition and drive beautifully. This example has been maintained in impressively original condition, and was recently serviced by its long-term enthusiast owner.
